Ideas to host the ultimate self care teen slumber party
So, your parents have given you the go-ahead to hose a slumber party at your home, but you need to plan it out. You need to make sure that not only is it the most epic sleepover, but also one that allows you all to indulge in some self-care.
Let’s get that party started, shall we?
Set the mood!
First things first - your space needs to feel comfy and inviting and it needs to have the right vibes. Think fairy lights, fluffy blankets, throw pillows, bean bags and maybe a few scented candles. If your friends are up for it, why not even build a tent or a fort with pillows and sheets and use it as a photo booth! Create a playlist that has plenty of songs that you and your friends can sing along to, or just relax with when you are doing your facial sessions.
Face packs, facials and more!
What would a self-care for teens night be without a little skincare and some self-pampering? While it is easy to just go to a store to pick some face masks, it would be so much more fun to whip up your own! Ask your parents to look up some easy DIY face packs and masks or do it on your own and just list out the ingredients that you might need. Here are some ideas that are easy to prepare and good for your skin:
- Oatmeal mask – Soak oatmeal with a little bit of warm water, till the oatmeal becomes soft. Apply this all over your face and wash it off in about 15-20 minutes. This mask is a good way to exfoliate and make your skin feel smooth and supple.
- Honey and yoghurt mask – This is probably one of those masks that even your grandma had once used, because it is that good. To 2 large spoons of yoghurt, add one small spoon of honey. You can apply this to your face and neck and then wash off in about 15-20 minutes. Honey is great for moisturizing, and yogurt leaves your skin feeling smooth and fresh.
- Banana mask – If your mom has slightly overripe bananas lying around, then use those for a face mask. Mash them and add some lemon juice for a face mask that will give you a natural glow and make your skin looking fresh.
- Aloevera and turmeric mask – For this one, you need some aloe gel (you can get some fresh or even the store-bought ones work) and a pinch of turmeric. Aloevera can soothe your skin, while turmeric is a natural antibiotic and can help with those first pimples.
Now before you apply any of these face masks, make sure that you wash your face well with a facewash that is created for teenage skin, like the one you can find at Tikitoro. And don’t forget to snap some funny “face mask selfies” with your friends!
Some fun and games too!
Now while your face masks are on, and even before and after that, you need to have some fun games and activities, because it is slumber party after all. How about a PG version of truth or dare – dare your friends to tie their hair in funny hair styles or wear as many socks as possible! Create a playlist of trending songs on Insta and see how can nail the hook steps first. You can set up a craft corner and make friendship bracelets for each other or maybe paint some tote bags or how about a nail paint corner, where you can do some nail art.
Food to fuel the fun
Just because it’s a self care teen slumber party, does not mean that you should not have food! It is a party after all, and having some delicious treats is a must. Here are some ideas that you can consider:
- Slice up your favourite fruits like strawberries, bananas, and apples, and pair them with a homemade chocolate dip (just melt some chocolate chips in the microwave).
- Make some regular popcorn and lay out an assortment of toppings – from cheese to caramel, from peri-peri to even cinnamon sugar!
- How about a DIY salad bar – plenty of chopped vegetables like lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and maybe even some paneer or feta and then some dressings like vinaigrette or thousand island. You can do the same with DIY sandwiches too – just lay out all the ingredients and everyone can build their own sandwich.
- And you can always set up a drink station too – a table with some regular water, soda, some fresh fruits, juice concentrates and such is all that you need. Ask your parents if you can borrow those cool looking tumblers and mugs and perhaps some cocktail umbrellas too!
End it on a chill note!
Once you are done with the teens self care routines, you are ready to chill out – you can either settle for a round of Monopoly or Uno or maybe pick a movie that you all like. This is where the popcorn would come in really handy! And before you hit the bed, do remember to blow out any candles that you might have lit.
Self care activities for teens goes beyond just skin and hair care – it is about finding a balance between their physical and mental well-being. Chances of bonding with friends and creating a positive environment around themselves is an important part of the growth and lays the foundation for a more centred personality.
